Pearlappetite

Pearlappetite is envisioned to be an art collection for anyone who has the appetite to be a part of the beauteous nature of pearls. It is my offer to their glory to present pearls as art on plates.  All of my creations have one common element – Pearls; praised by seafarers as Mermaids Jewels, they are the jewels on my art.

Pearls (the oldest gemstone in the world) IS A symbol of innocence and purity and the ultimate symbol of elegance and subtle sexiness.

The Birth of Pearlappetite
Patric Rozario is an artist from Malaysia. He has been living and working in Doha Qatar since 2005. Qatar’s history is rich with pearling as the main occupation, until modern times. Sometime in 2009, Patric started integrating Swarovski pearls in his abstract paintings on canvas, by embedding pearls in acrylic paint. This idea occurred to him when by ‘happy mistake’ a pearl fell on wet acrylic paint. While he worked on his paintings, these Swarovski crystal pearls and other semi-precious stones were placed in a glass plate, rendering it easy for the artist to pick them up when needed. One day the artist noticed that the sunlit glass plate itself was a beautiful work of art, with all the pearls, crystals and semi-precious stones bedecking the plate. Pearls and Swarovski crystals on painted ceramic and glass plates will it be.
Thus, Pearlappetite was born.

Painting and creating exposes my soul. Where words fail to express - colors, strokes, textures and the pearls convey. Deep-seated sub conscious comes alive. It is a way of connecting with my inner self. And more often than not, the creations are a pleasant surprise.

There are a multitude of emotions that I as an artist go through when creating a Pearlappetite. The joy of seeing my vision translate with my handy-work, the despair of a wrong brush stroke, the anxiety of using a new pearlescent color, the joy of using a new colored Swarovski crystal, the confidence of a repeated brushstroke, the tension of a measured stroke, the strain of perfectly landing a pearl exactly where I want it to be, the stressful judgment of knowing when to stop, the desire to create a fine balance, the stray hair of the brush on wet paint, the telephone ringing while my hands are still wet with paint, wife wanting to know my opinion on what she was speaking for the last 20 minutes, time management - my kids asking me when I can help with their home work, the pace of emotions within, and a lot more.

It is true that once a Pearlppetite is complete, no matter how much I love it as a part of my soul, it is suddenly outside of me. All that I once held within for creating that piece of work is right in front of my eyes. The entire emotional journey undertaken has come to an end and taken shape as an art piece. A certain part of me has come to become my creations and now resides outside me. Like a child who is born unto me, but now will continue to remain as a separate and independent entity. Farewell.

My second round of emotions is erased or released, as soon as someone buys these pieces. Joy replaces the emotions. Hopefully my creations sometime do tug at your heart, just as it did to me. To know that my Pearlappetitehas found a new purpose on someone’s mantle piece, wall or piano is very delighting & rewarding. This alone can inspire me to keep creating. More, more and much more.

Come enjoy a Pearlappetite. You too can ‘Own A Rozario’.
