Grassroots Football

A project of 100 coffee and watercolor paintings of grassroots football.

About

100 Coffee & watercolor paintings

The ‘Grassroots Football’ project centers around 100 paintings which are created using coffee and watercolor. These pieces are further morphed into several more visual mediums. A coffee table book is in the making. The artwork may also be used for advertising and promotion by the organizations that are partners in this project.

My vision is to harness the power of grassroots football, and in my little way, enrich the lives of those people who play or enjoy the Beautiful Game outside the glitz and glamour of today’s global football industry. Through my paintings I hope to send a reminder that every football star started at a grassroots level. I wish to inspire men and women to see, identify, and appreciate the ordinary people and places where football is played and lived, where dreams are born and champions are made

All 100 paintings are scenes of nostalgia. This is where it all began - in the alleyways, villages, paddy fields, the favelas. It’s about grassroots football: football’s soul; football without rules, without reins, without restrictions or referees’ whistles. Sometimes even without a ball: rolled up newspapers, rags, and anything kids can kick. Monks, ladies in sarees, old people, children, and just about anyone, but professional football players.

Art in Advertising & Public Relations

Today’s oversaturated advertising landscape, where functional differences among products barely exist, forces brands to innovate in the search of new ideas that generate real value and engagement.
In this highly competitive and global context, the inclusion of art in brand communications becomes a valid formula that can add unique value to a brand’s message.
