Coral reefs are among the greatest natural wonders of the world’s oceans. They come in a seemingly infinite array of shapes and colors and teem with life. But their beauty is matched by their fragility. 75 percent of the world’s corals are facing a threatened existence as a result of rising ocean temperatures and human activities, including destructive fishing and marine pollution.
A surprising pattern arose when I was creating these cosmic corals. I meticulously overlaid different color morphs of green to depict the imperiled reef ecosystem. Designed here is an artistic piece that puts the viewer inside the fluorescent world of corals and reef.
Color alone won’t always help get the meaning across and green having so many definitions attached; I have used natural sea-water pearls, gems and Swarovski crystals to create a distinction - offering the viewer another level of comprehension.
